London Victoria station evacuated after discovery of ‘unexploded bomb
Bangla sanglap desk; An unexploded bomb sparked a mass evacuation at Victoria station this morning.
Armed police stormed the scene at rush hour as thousands of commuters were ordered out of both the Tube and mainline rail stations.
Many tweeted photos and videos of people streaming out of the building, while a huge number of officers guarded the area.
One commuter, Emma Pritchard, told Metro.co.uk: ‘I came in on Southeastern railway, I got into the station fine but there were announcements saying the Tube was closed because of a security alert.
‘It was pretty calm, just very busy and people trying to find buses etc.’
Scotland Yard ordered everyone out of the station due to an ‘unexploded device’ found on a nearby building site – believed to be an old World War II bomb.
