Desk report: The Duchess of York has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Sarah Ferguson, 63, reportedly discovered she had cancer following a routine mammogram.

The mum-of-two has reportedly since had surgery.

Sarah is said to have been released from hospital on Sunday and is with her family in Windsor.

She underwent surgery at King Edward VII hospital in London and according to the Sun the operation was a ‘success’.

A source told the paper that her prognosis is ‘good’ due to ‘early detection’.

After the cancer was spotted during a routine screening, the Duchess spent several days in hospital.

‘It’s been a difficult time but she is very grateful to the medical staff who carried out the mammogram and detected it early and the medical staff who looked after her these last few days, she is incredibly thankful,’ a friend of Sarah’s told the outlet.

The author is now resting up in the company of her two daughters Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 33.

Prince Andrew is also said to be with Sarah as she gets better.

Sarah and Prince Andrew have reportedly known each other since they were children.

They then became reacquainted with each other at Royal Ascot in 1985 and embarked on a whirlwind romance, leading to their marriage in 1986.

However, the pair divorced in 1996, months before now King Charles would divorce Princess Diana.

The couple remained close after their split, even still living together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where they have resided since 2004.

Beatrice, their eldest daughter, was born on August 8, 1988, followed by Eugenie on March 23, 1990.

They also share two grandchildren after Princess Eugenie welcomed baby August in February, 2021, and Princess Beatrice gave birth to baby Sienna in September of the same year.
